The Founder & Artistic Director of Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Andrew has directed all its productions to date, with the exception of Hamlet (directed in 2008 by Jonathan Miller).
For Bristol's new writing company, Show of Strength, he has also directed six plays, including Living Quarters by Brian Friel, Tales of the Undead by Dominic Power and Let’s Do It and Rough Music by James Wilson.
As an actor in theatre he appeared at the Bristol Old Vic in many productions between 1978 and 1997, including Roots, Cabaret, Destiny, Plenty, Timon of Athens, Oh What a Lovely War! and Sleuth. He was a member of the National Theatre Company from 1975 to 1978 and has played in repertory around the country.
In TV and film he has appeared in The Politician’s Wife, The Brittas Empire, Howards’ Way, Joint Account, Julius Caesar, Casualty, The Bill, London Bridge, One Foot in the Grave, The Winds of War, A Very Peculiar Practice, Manchild, Bad Girls, New Tricks, A Perfect Spy, and The Lost Prince.
Radio work includes: Prose, poetry and a ‘Book at Bedtime’ as well as numerous plays for Radios 3 and 4.
